Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the heart of Vienna on Josefstadter Str. 7, Coffee & Friends is more than just a cafe; it’s a warm and welcoming retreat that perfectly encapsulates the cozy charm of the Austrian coffee culture. This delightful spot is ideally located just a short 10-minute stroll from the iconic Parliament building, making it an ideal pit stop for both locals and tourists seeking a moment of respite.

The cafe’s interior is a breath of fresh air, with its clean decor and inviting atmosphere that beckons you to sit down, relax, and enjoy. Visitors frequently comment on the lovely ambiance, which fosters a sense of community and comfort. The owner and staff are noted for their charming demeanor; many patrons have expressed how their kindness enhances the entire experience, leaving a lasting impression long after the last sip of coffee has been enjoyed.

At Coffee & Friends, the main star is undoubtedly the coffee. Customers rave about the rich flavors of their Arabic blends, with many describing the espresso as a true delight. David Mancilla, a patron who fell in love with the espresso, shares, “The espresso tastes really good,” and it's clear that the baristas pour skill and care into every cup. Erkan Yildiran noted the exceptional notes of dark chocolate and cherries in his double espresso, a testament to the meticulous sourcing of their beans. For those who prefer a comforting pastry, the plain croissants are highly recommended, deemed “delicious” by satisfied customers.

Moreover, the cafe offers delectable treats that look irresistible. Julia Zolotova highlighted the friendly gesture of being presented with cookies during her visit, an indication of the cafe's commitment to customer satisfaction and warmth.

While the cafe’s size is compact, it imbibes a big-hearted vibe that wraps around you like a warm hug. Joe Macpherson appreciated the outdoor seating, perfect for savoring a slice of Sacher Torte—the quintessential Austrian chocolate cake—paired with a cup of their splendid coffee. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind after a day of exploring, just as Yağmur Yılmaz remarked, finding it a serene spot to rest between sightseeing adventures.

Coffee & Friends is truly a gem in the eighth district—a place where passionate coffee enthusiasts gather, where each drink is crafted with care, and where the sense of friendship is palpable. Whether you’re a local looking for a new favorite hangout or a traveler wanting to indulge in some of Vienna’s best coffee, this cafe deserves a prominent place on your itinerary.

Small but cozy cafe. Espresso tastes really good and staff is very kind and charming Recommended !

Small but kind cafe in the center of Vienna in the eight district called Josefstadt. You can take a 10 minute walk from the famous Parlament building. They normally offer only Arabica blends there. For me as a Robusta fan not so amazing. The arabica blend was nice though. I had a double espresso and the dominant flavors were dark bitter chocolate and cherry. Quite delicious. The service was friendly and the lady gave me more information about the roasted coffee beans they offer in the cafe. So you can take some packages with you if you want of the blends. All in all a nice cafe.

Absolutely lovely place. It got recommended to me by a friend who lives near this shop. The coffee is great, the treats look lovely even though we didn't get the chance to try them, and the shop itself is nicely decorated and looks clean. The employee that helped us was extremely nice as well. We went here in the mornings every day of our stay, definitely no regrets

Super nice. Very tasty coffee, bought to make it at home. Plain croissants were delicious. We were presented with cookies, very friendly owner.

Sacher Torte. A must try while in Austria. Rich dense chocolate cake followed by a delicious smooth coffee. Another packed cafe with everyone ordering cake & coffee. Price was very fair. I like the outdoor seating but was a little cold. Maybe in summer. Truly a wonderful afternoon teatime snack

The Inside was cozy and warm. The owner was really kind. It was a nice place to rest when we were travelling from Upper Belvedere to Lower. Coffee was delicious too.
